My production starts with this image of a stuffed toy (a rabbit) wearing a blue blazer and with a carrot in his paws.
What I have just described, is the picture’s denotation, which is exactly what we see, not what we perceive. Therefore denotation is the same for everybody.
A picture though can speak more than it was intended to, and people can find different, hidden meanings to it by simply looking at the image.
What we perceive and what feel is called connotation, which is what I ask you to tell me.
What are your feelings, your thoughts, the memories you suddenly linked to this toy?
What’s the significance of this image, to you, what does this remind you of?
Comment and let me know whatever came into your mind by looking ath this picture!
If you’re new to this production and want to know more, or if you’re still not sure about the difference between connotation and denotation, I suggest visiting the About page!
